Bhutan International Marathon is divided into two categories: 42-kilometre Full Marathon from Tashithang in Gasa and Half Marathon 21-kilometre from Khabisa to scenic Punakha Dzong. The altitude of the marathon ranges from about 4000 feet to 5600 feet above the sea level. The route passes through villages, forests, farmlands and even walk on 300-meter suspension bridge across the river also constitutes a part of the marathon route.
